Week 2

The second Committee meeting, the first in person, began with a quick recap of the week from Project Manager Yoyo Zhang ’24, Assistant Director Annika Lee ’23, and the department managers. Some notable progress from the past week includes: completing the first draft of a weekly progress blog, confirmation of a lottery system for audience members, and brainstorming ideas for the TEDxYouth@ChoateRosemaryHall website. 

The Content section of the Creative Design department worked collaboratively during the second meeting and encountered minor difficulties that were resolved quickly. Despite delayed assignment delegation, the team is working on creating drafts for the event description and some member profiles. In the Visual section, Department Manager Audrey Kaye ’22 and the rest of the team looked through many merchandise inspirations which helped with the weekly assignments, to create sketches of the designs.

The weekly assignment for the Online section of the Technology department was to create a detailed plan for the website, while the Production team’s assignment was to create a rough draft of the event day schedule. Not much progress has been made because of some confusion in communication, but hopefully, new advancements will be announced during the third Committee meeting. 

In the Outreach department, both the Communication and Business sections have made sufficient progress. Communication has completed their goal of creating profile pictures, while the Business section confirmed stickers as a primary merchandise choice and are working on solidifying clothing options. The department is working on creating rejection and acceptance letters for speakers and also receiving quotes from merchandise companies. 

Overall, the second Committee meeting was a very collaborative environment although not all aspects of the committee ran smoothly during week two. There was a sense of disorganization and a lack of communication in some departments. However, these issues will correct themselves with familiarity to the process. Next week, our goals include clarification with speaker selection and announcements on the event day schedule.
